The delegation of the CRASP met with a delegation from the Union of Rectors of the Universities of Ukraine in Poznań on 1-4 April 2019.

The delegation Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine visited Poland on 1-4 April 2019 and met with the delegation of CRASP in Poznan. The visit was organized within the MNiSW-PW project entitled "Polish-Ukrainian cooperation of representative institutions of rectors, for the improvement of the university's performance" (project leader - Prof. J.Woźnicki). The university-host of the visit was the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan.

The delegation of the Union of Rectors was as follows: prof. Anatolii Mazaraki, Chairman of the Delegation, Rector of the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics, prof. Mykola Dmytrychenko, Rector of the National Transport University, prof. Anatoliy Vasylyev, Rector of the Sumy State University, prof. Igor Kotsan Rector of the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University, prof. Volodymyr Ponomarenko, Rector of the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, prof. Petro Bekh, Vice-Rector of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Yaroslav Boliubash, Secretary of the Union of Rectors.

Wiesław Banyś, Honorary President of CRASP, Member of the EUA Board, University of Silesia, prof. Wiesław Bielawski, Vice-President of CRASP, Rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, prof. Andrzej Mastalerz, Rector of the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska, Rector of the Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa, prof. Sławomir Wiak, Rector of the Lodz University of Technology, prof. Tomasz Łodygowski, Rector of Poznań University of Technology.

Special guests were invited to take part in the rectors’ seminar: dr hab. Sebastian Kołodziejczyk, Chairman of the NAWA Council, dr.hab. Nataliia Lukova-Chuiko, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The program of the visit included a rector's seminar, a debate of rectors and visits to UAM's science centers and participation in a conference devoted to the 100th anniversary of the university.

At the Polish-Ukrainian rectors' seminar, which was held on April 2, 2019, NAWA Representatives - Chairman of NAWA S.T. Kołodziejczyk and the NAWA Council Member prof. W. Banyś, honorary chairman of the CRASP, presented information about NAWA, new opportunities and competitions organized by the Agency. Preliminary results of the research on university financing, carried out in Poland and Ukraine within the project, are presented by the program coordinator I. Degtyarova. 25 universities in each country took part in the research, and their leaders (rectors or vice-rectors) were interviewed. The aim of the study was to get to know the opinions of Polish and Ukrainian rectors on how the system of financing higher education at the systemic and institutional level should be organised.

The key point of the program was the rectors' debate devoted to the issues of financing higher education at the systemic and institutional level. Representatives of the delegations - prof. Wiesław Bielawski on behalf of KRASP and prof. Volodymyr Ponomarenko, on behalf of URHEIU presented the overview of the university financing systems in Poland and Ukraine, respectively. In the debate rectors contributed to the research finding and discussed recommendations for ministers for higher education and science in both countries, which should be sent in a joint resolution.

On April 3 delegations also took part in the Conference on "University of the 21st century: from Humboldt to University 4.0" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of AMU, and also visited the Wielkopolska Center of Advanced Technologies, and then the Faculty of Political Sciences and Journalism at the Morasko Campus.

The visit showed the importance of cooperation the rectors conferences to be a powerful tool for tightening academic cooperation and policy development in Poland and Ukraine.
