Webinar "Training and coaching for innovation and entrepreneurship skills of displaced and refugee academics." will take place online April 2, 2024, 13:00 -15:00 CET. This event is organized by University of Ljubljana, Slovenia as a vital part of the AGILE project.

The academic education often falls short to train students or researchers with regards to innovation processes, innovation management, intellectual property rights, exploitation activities or entrepreneurship. Even more so, even if covered to some degree, these are contents that are more likely to be cut out in times of crisis. This webinar provides basic knowledge and competences in these areas. Moreover, these will be related specifically to refugee or displaced researchers, where the formal status gives rise to different legal bases and arrangements, depending on the host institutions and the national regulations. This includes important considerations both on the legal side such as ownership of IP as well as on the support side, which most often is organised through local or regional support structures and networks, oftentimes with strict regulations for eligibility.

The basic training will thus include the following points:

1. Basics of innovation and inventions,

2. Intellectual property rights and their protection, incl. copyright and patents,

3. Innovation processes, Open innovation, Impact canvas

4. Concepts of Industry 4.0 and 5.0

5. Specific considerations for refugees and displaced academics.

Invited speakers:
1. Peter Alešnik, Head of OU for strengthening innovation and entrepreneurial culture
2. Sebastian Dahle, Assistant professor, University of Ljubljan
