LUMEN 2019 Conference and Competition

The 5th jubilee edition of the Conference for Leaders of University Management LUMEN 2019 was held on November 19th in Warsaw. The main organizer of the LUMEN conference is the PCG Academia. Substantive contribution to the conference was ensured by the Polish Rectors Foundation.

LUMEN 2019 Conference

The main theme of this year Conference were the practical aspects of implementation of the new law (Act 2.0) regarding the area of science and higher education in Poland, as well as change management in universities. The participants discussed the problems of financing higher education in Poland and new challenges in university management resulting from the Act 2.0. Moreover, together with our guests from foreign universities, we compared the directions of changes in management in higher education.

LUMEN 2019 Competition

The highlight of the LUMEN 2019 Conference was the official Gala awards ceremony, where the winners of 3rd LUMEN Competition were announced. In the Competition we awarded authors of the best managed projects and initiatives in Polish higher education sector. The prizes were awarded in three categories: "Development" (projects and initiatives for the strategic development of the university), "Management" (innovative management methods in the areas of education, research and university's organization) and "Collaboration" (building relationships with university stakeholders). The Competition Jury was chaired by Professor Jerzy Woźnicki, President of the Polish Rectors Foundation.

Winners of 3rd edition of LUMEN Competition were: 

  • "Development" category - Kozminski University in Warsaw and Medical University of Silesia in Katowice,
  • "Management" category - Lodz University of Technology,
  • "Collaboration" category - Jagiellonian University Medical College and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

 The jury also awarded three Special Awards to Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Young Science Foundation (Fundacja Młodej Nauki) and Wroclaw Medical University.
