In 2021, the Wolters Kluwer Polska Foundation and Publishing House launched a project focused on the digital transformation of Polish universities.
Stage I
During the first stage of the project, a survey was conducted among university management staff to examine the operation of document management systems used by higher education institutions, as well as tools supporting legal compliance, risk management (internal control), and asset management.
The aim of the study was to determine whether and how the COVID-19 pandemic affected universities’ IT infrastructure — including the work of academic and administrative staff — whether it accelerated the transition from analog to digital management processes, and which systems played a leading role in this transformation.
The results were published in the report „Szkolnictwo wyższe a technologie”. (Higher Education and Technology)
Stage II
In 2022, during the second stage of the project, in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with representatives of 14 universities.
The purpose of the research was to identify both the needs and the practical solutions implemented by different higher education institutions in the area of digital university management — particularly in two key operational domains: risk management and document management.
The findings were presented in the report „Nowe technologie w zarządzaniu uczelnią”. (New Technologies in University Management)
Stage III
The third stage, carried out in 2023, involved a qualitative study with representatives of 11 universities.
The research focused on analyzing internal control systems at public universities, identifying the needs of those involved in the process, key challenges faced, and the strategies adopted to address them.
The results were published in the report „Kontrola zarządcza na uczelniach”. (Internal Control at Universities)
Stage IV
In 2024, the fourth stage of the project featured a survey titled “Teaching Methods in Law Studies.”
The aim of the research was to identify the teaching methods currently used in legal education and to assess the needs of academic staff seeking to enhance their competencies in modern teaching techniques.
The results were presented in the report "Metody nauczania na kierunkach prawniczych. Wyzwania i oczekiwania". (Teaching Methods in Law Studies: Challenges and Expectations)
Stage V
In 2025, the fifth stage of the project involved a qualitative study on the readiness of Polish universities to perform tasks related to national defense and crisis management.
The research included in-depth interviews with 19 specialists representing 20 universities.
The findings were published in the report "Zadania obronne i zarządzanie kryzysowe w szkołach wyższych – praktyki, wyzwania, rekomendacje" (Defense Tasks and Crisis Management in Higher Education Institutions – Practices, Challenges, Recommendations)
